PUTTING TIP #1

Alignment tip:  Draw a line with a sharpie or use the brand name (Titleist) of your golf ball when putting to line up your putt.  This sounds simple but it will help you confirm your line when you set up to make a stroke.  Quite often what you see from behind the ball when your lining up your putt doesn’t always look correct when you set up to make a stroke.

FEEL DISTANCE DRILL

PUTTING TIP #2

Distance Control:  Many people have a hard time getting the ball close from a long distance on the putting green.  Here is a great practice drill to work on that will enable you to be more confident over those dreaded 3-putt distances.  Place 4 white tees equal distance, approx. 3 feet, at four corners around a hole on the putting green.  Then take 6 golf balls and set up about 30 feet away from that hole.  Place the 6 balls in a row and try to put all 6 balls within the tees around the hole.  Move back 5 feet when you get all six in the circle.  This is quite challenging and will help you practice your feel and boost your confidence when on the course.

PUTTING TIP #3

Focus Point: When getting ready to make a stroke, you should be looking at the back 1/3 of the ball.  This is the point of contact and you should be concentrating on that spot during the entire motion.  Also, to assure solid contact, keep your focus on that spot after the ball is gone and count to yourself…..one-thousand-one…..one-thousand-two…..then look up at the ball.
